There's nothing more rewarding than seeing an underprivileged child at Christmas time smile, with their eyes full of excitement when Vernon firefighters deliver toys for Toys for Tots.
On December 21, 1998, the Town of Vernon Fire Department delivered toys to 380 children from 170 families. King Associates and Skycraft, Inc. again were our largest contributors. The community assisted tremendously with donating new toys, along with used toys. As a result of this, the majority of children received several new toys. We were also able to distribute 3 brand new bicycles. One of the bike recipients wrote a nice thank you note and said she plans to be firefighter when she grows up so she can help with kids like herself.
