Welcome

New Radio Tower

Captain Dave Galley and the members of ET541 would like to welcome Jeff Bifolck and Robert Talty to the Town of Vernon Fire Department. Good luck to both.

Construction for the new 50' radio communications tower at Station 241 has begun. The tower will initially have radio repeater equipment for the police station but future plans include a secondary repeater site for the fire service to help with communications in the Vernon Circle area.

Oh, Those Brush Fires...What to Wear???
By Susan P. Fischer, Deputy Chief

New Uniform Patch

Well, it's that time of year again...brush fires. In most cases full turnout gear is just too much to wear and can lead to heat exhaustion. Ideally, while working at a brush fire, you should be wearing a helmet with eye protection, gloves, a long sleeve shirt, long pants, and work boots. But as we all know, in a volunteer fire department, this is not always possible. If you don't have ideal clothing at the time of the call, the following is acceptable in Vernon. A helmet with eye protection, gloves, and long pants are a must. If you are wearing shorts, put on your bunker pants without the boots. Your legs must be protected! As for the rest....you can get away with a short sleeve shirt and some type of foot protection that fully covers your feet. NO sandals!

Managing Editor Note:
I would like to thank my Dad, George Males, for loaning his color printer to me when mine became "DOA". Because of him, we can enjoy the colored copies of the 41Repeater! Thanks DAD!!! :-)
