Early morning trailer fire at Kelly Road Trailer Park.

Car fire at Rt 30 and 31 in the Texaco parking lot.

Limited man power at this early afternoon crash on Rt. 83 in front of Vernon Lanes made it difficult to gain access into one car where extrication was needed.  Several minutes into the call, neither Rescue 141 or Rescue 441 had signed on the air.  Lt. Scott McDonald, who was driving by in a Vernon Public Works' pay-loader, stopped at the scene to lend a hand.  1st Asst. Chief Tony Patrizz asked Lt. McDonald to get Rescue 141. Only one problem, Lt. McDonald needed a ride back to Station 141 to get the Rescue.  According to Lt. McDonald, "a pay-loader is not a quick emergency response vehicle". So Fire Police Clyde Gill gave him a ride to Station 141. Rescue 141 was on scene in moments, and the patient was extricated from the vehicle.

Civil Defense Weather Radar

Thanks to Fire Marshall Don Maguda, the Vernon Police Station has now been outfitted with a live satellite weather radar system.  The dish (located on top of the PD) received live weather radar images.  It also has live forecast on-line capabilities to receive the most up-to-the-minute information.
