History:
The Snipsic Hook and Ladder Company was established in 1913. The first meeting
was held at the Fitton Firehouse on Prospect Street and the first truck was a
1913 horse drawn ladder. The next truck was a 1923 Maxim ladder truck, next
replaced by a 1959 GMC. This was the first aerial 75’ ladder truck in the town
of Rockville. This ladder was next followed by a 1978 100’ Maxim. As tradition
continues, the bell from the 1923 Maxim has been passed down from truck to truck
and is now mounted on Truck 541.
