February 15th, 2006-655 Talcottville Road Structure Fire

Town of Vernon Fire Department units were dispatched to 655 Talcottville Rd, the Woodmere Apartments, for a report of heavy smoke and fire showing.  Vernon Fire Chief Robert Kelley was first on scene confirming the report.  Two units were found to have heavy fire and smoke from multiple stories.  Fire extension continued to several other surrounding units.  ET-541 was the first arriving engine, laying in from a hydrant approximately 600 feet from the involved units.  Three 1 3/4" hand lines were extended from ET-541 with the addition of one 2 1/2" hand line.  T541 was the first due aerial setting up ventilation operations on the "C" side of the building.  T-141 was the second due aerial setting up operations on the "D" side of the fire building.  Mutual aid from Bolton, Ellington, Tolland, and Manchester helped assist TVFD units.
