May 24th, 2001 - Rt. 83 and
Dart Hill Road
It was a chain reaction of
accidents that started around 4:30 p.m. on May 24th. One driver
caused two separate accidents in Vernon. The first accident happened when
this driver collided with several cars at the intersection of Rt. 83 and
Dart Hill Road. The car left the scene and continued to drive north
on Rt. 83 where they collided with another vehicle and power lines in
front of Barlow Motors. The driver drove away again -- they turned
onto Union Street, where the car died. The driver fled by foot but
was soon stopped by bystanders and Vernon Police.
