I-84 Westbound at Exit 66-Tractor Trailer MVA

On Friday July 2nd the Town of Vernon Fire Department was dispatched to Interstate 84 for a tractor trailer rollover involving fire and entrapment.  Upon arrival crews were met with multiple hazards.  Aside from a fully involved cab crews had to maneuver around piles of bottled water on the west side of the tractor trailer.  On the east side of the unit crews had to fend off diesel fumes from a saddle tank which had ruptured approx 30 feet from where the tractor trailer finally came to rest.  Units at the scene included Town of Vernon's ET-141, R-141, ET-241, ET-441, and R-641, the RGH Medic, Connecticut State Police, Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, and Environmental Services.
